Almost There!

September 26th, 2016 at 01:55PM
Hey everyone!
So, this week's page is late again. Although I'd like to mention that Page 42 will mark the end of Chapter 6! We'll be posting the page on Patreon as soon as it's done and the page should be up on the Aikonia website next Monday. I'll try to post some other stuff on Patreon in the meantime though.
After Chapter 6 is over, we'll be taking a very short break to focus on building a buffer for Chapter 7 and we'll start posting the new journal entry series on Patreon as well! We're very excited about the new Journal story and we can't wait to share it with all of you! :)
Have a wonderful week!
Page Is Late!

Hey everyone!
So, you've probably noticed that today's page isn't up yet. We'll have a few goodies up on Patreon this week to make up for that! We're not sure if this week's page will be up tomorrow or the next week, so just stay tuned until then!
We're launching VRNinja on Steam tomorrow, so that's been keeping us pretty busy!
Thank you for your patience! And don't forget, if you're a patron, you can chat with us on the patron-exclusive Slack whenever you want! Have a wonderful week :)
Timelapses And VRNinja!
By Andrew-david
September 6th, 2016 at 01:42PM
Hey everyone!
So, Karina has been recording herself working on this page and we've turned that footage into three timelapse videos. The first one is the sketching of the page and was posted for $4+ patrons on Patreon.
The second timelapse video is the inking and was posted for $7+ patrons right here.
And the last one will be available to all patrons some time tomorrow.
I also thought I'd share that MADSOFT Games released VRNinja on the Oculus Store for Oculus Rift last Friday! You can check out the game right here!
Have a wonderful week!
Late Page!
By Andrew-david
September 5th, 2016 at 04:02PM
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to post a quick blurb entry mentioning that this week's page is a little late! Karina is finishing up the colours/shading right now but it will probably be too late to post it by the time she's done tonight. So I'll be uploading the page tomorrow morning instead!
I did post an incomplete version of the page (flats) on Patreon though, in case you want to check that out in the mean time!
Patreon And Slack!
By Andrew-david
August 29th, 2016 at 01:23PM
Hey everyone!
Just thought I'd post a quick reminder that we have an active Patreon and that we rely on that to keep the webcomic going!
If you enjoy reading Aikonia, you should consider supporting us on Patreon! You'll get early access to pages, bonus content, exclusive updates, and you'll be helping us keep this comic alive! Not only that but you'll also get access to the exclusive Slack team that gives all our Patrons a direct line of communication with us! We've been sharing behind-the-scenes stuff, answering questions, and just having regular discussions on there. Getting to know our supporters has been great and I really hope we can get more people on there! All it takes is $1 on Patreon!
Thank you and enjoy this week's page!
Delay!
By Karina
August 22nd, 2016 at 07:49PM
Hello, everyone!
There's a bit of a delay on the page that was going to go up today on account that I did not have access to my computer most of the day yesterday and couldn't complete the shading on time. The page is very action-oriented, so there are lots of individual panels that need my attention.
Hang in there; the fully coloured page should be going up on the site tomorrow, rather than today.
Skrreee!

Hey everyone!
Sorry for the slight delay on posting that page. As you can see, lots of detail there, so it took a tiny bit longer than expected. But we did post the sketch on Patreon a few days ago as a preview!
And, speaking of Patreon, we actually lost a few patrons due to our recent unexpected hiatus, which is totally understandable! But I thought I'd post a little reminder about it since we were planning on starting to post the new journal entry series (which Corina and Karina have been working on really hard!) soon and we've gone below the "New Journal Series" milestone by just $2. I was hoping we could get one or more new patrons to help us pass that milestone again! If you have any questions regarding Patreon, please don't hesitate to ask us! You can post in the comments, tweet at us, or email us directly at hello@aikoniacomic.com
Also! If you'd like to support us but can't become a patron (which is okay, don't feel bad!), you can totally still help us out by subscribing to Aikonia on Webtoons! We found out that if we have over 5,000 subscribers on there, Webtoons themselves will pledge $100 to our Patreon!
Thank you all so much for your support so far! Have a wonderful week :)
Keeping You In The Loop
By Andrew-david
August 1st, 2016 at 07:27PM
So, as Karina stated in her previous blurb entry, she can't really work on any new pages due to her current life situation. We're very understanding of that and did not want to add more pressure on top of what she is currently going through.
I've noticed, however, that some of our readers do not feel the same way as we do towards this. Aikonia is supposed to be a fun project, to tell a story that we want to tell, and if some of you are going to turn it into a burden by bashing us and writing negative comments and not appreciating the fact that we're already doing our best, then please, simply stop coming to this website.
Karina is already going through a lot and some of you's attitude is definitely not helping her get through it.
To those of you who have been requesting I keep you all updated and in the loop, here's what I have to say: "Karina is dealing with a lot, there is literally nothing I can do until she can work on new pages."
What else is there to communicate? Do I have to write a new blurb entry with this sentence every single day? I assumed that this was implied and that not having to repeat the same statement on a weekly basis wouldn't count as "lack of communication". There is no point in writing more blurb entries stating the exact same fact over and over, so if you'd like an update when there is nothing new to update you on, then please, just read the quoted statement again as if I had just posted it.
To everyone else: thank you for your patience and support. We're really hoping to have Aikonia back up and running soon.
Update
By Karina
June 26th, 2016 at 06:15PM
(This was posted in the comment section, but it seemed more appropriate to post it as a blurb entry)
Hello, everyone! Artist/colorist here to give you all a bit of an update as to what the status is on the comic at this time. But first of all, for those that continue to offer us their support and readership despite the gaps in updates, I want to sincerely thank you for doing so.
Besides working on Aikonia, I also work as Lead Illustrator and Artist for Madsoft Games, which means that my attention is divided across a number of ongoing projects that I\'m involved with. Two of these had been recently featured at GDX this year: Bound Against Time and VRNinja -- you can read about these projects in the post-GDX summary on the Madsoft Games blog. Creating assets for both games was where the majority of my time was spent for about 3 weeks, which meant that the Aikonia comic had to take the sidelining seat during this time.
In addition to this, any dear readers who have read the blurbs of previous pages should be familiar with certain personal problems that I was working hard towards fixing, and had actually managed to sort through enough to return to illustrating pages for a short time. I was living in an exceedingly toxic and hostile environment where emotional meltdowns were a regular and repeated occurrence, which worsened my depression and interfered with my ability to take care of myself and concentrate/work on anything, really. The key word here is \'was\', since I am now currently free from my soul-crushing prison and living with some close friends that only want the very best for me. Of course, there was some violent fallout from when I initially broke the news of my intention to move, which resulted in my parent disowning me before they eventually decided to grudgingly accept my decision to leave, not without continued passive-aggressive behavior on their part. In addition to this, I also had to scramble to pack my belongings while this parent was at work to ensure my emotional safety/stability, returning to another friend\'s house to sleep on their couch each night during the whole process. It was an exhausting, exciting, nerve-wracking, and heavily emotional time for me.
Long story short: I needed to move to a new apartment with friends, and haven\'t been able to commit to working on the comic until settling in to my new and exceedingly more healthy/safe surroundings. I haven\'t been able to update anyone of my situation online until the stress/chaos of the whole thing subsided enough for me to organize my thoughts clearly, and I\'m sorry to see that many of you seem very upset. :(
Your continued support is invaluable to the Aikonia team. We haven\'t given up on this comic, it\'s simply a matter of survival/health taking priority over the creation of content, recently. I ask for your understanding and compassion, friends, we are only human.
For those of you that are and continue to be Patrons, I\'m going to be working on sketching the remaining pages for the entirety of this chapter to be posted exclusively to the Patreon for your viewing pleasure. Of course, the finished pages will eventually make it here as well, but at this time we want to reward our supporters on Patreon for the resilience and patience. :)
New Site Features!
By Andrew-david
May 30th, 2016 at 01:03PM
Hey everyone!
We're finally back to our regular posting schedule! And I've also updated the website with a few new features:
- Transcripts: You can now click on the little transcript icon in the top right corner of every page to see a dialogue transcript for the page! We've been getting requests to add this feature for a while and I'm happy to finally have it!
- Archive Searching: The addition of transcripts made pages searchable! You can now visit the archives and write a word or phrase in the search field to get a list of all the pages that include said word or phrase. It's a very basic search system for now, but we plan on improving it in the future.
- Blurbs Section: You can now see all the blurb entries in one place, just like a real blog! We still want to add a lot of features to that section, but for now, you can see up to 20 entries per page and they can be filtered by team member.
Thank you for your suggestions! Feel free to leave any other suggestions, ideas, feedback, or questions in the comments!
FINAL DAY ON KICKSTARTER!
By Andrew-david
May 13th, 2016 at 12:59PM
Hey everyone!
We've entered the final 24 hours of Me And My Dinosaur's Kickstarter campaign. I know our goal looks unreachable at this point, and it's unrealistic for me to continue advertising it, but here's the thing:
If all our readers pledged a dollar, we'd actually surpass our goal right now! And besides, if you pledge and we don't reach our goal, you won't be charged anything, so there's really nothing for you to lose aside from the amount you pledged if we do manage to magically hit our goal.
So please, if you can't back the project, help us spread the word!
Thank you so much and have a wonderful weekend!
Where Is Aikonia?
By Andrew-david
May 9th, 2016 at 03:42PM
Hey everyone!
I thought I'd post a quick update so that you don't have to scroll through the comments of the last page to find out what's going on.
For the past month, we've been really busy with our upcoming console title, Me And My Dinosaur. We not only had to manage a Kickstarter (which isn't going great right now), but we also had to have a demo ready on time for a local exhibition (GDX Edmonton) that took place this past weekend.
We were also showing off some other titles that we are publishing at that event and, since she is also the lead illustrator at MADSOFT Games, Karina has been extremely busy getting artwork done for all those games on time for GDX Edmonton.
Now that the event is over, we can finally return to our regular, slightly less hectic, schedules. Karina will take a few days to relax and will return to illustrating Aikonia very soon, so we should have a page up next Monday!
In the mean time, we would really appreciate it if you could help out our Kickstarter campaign. We've worked really hard on the game and we really want it to be the best it can be, but we can't make that happen without the additional funds. If you can't back the game, then maybe send out a tweet, a tumblr post, or share it on Facebook. Anything you can do to help us spread the word would be greatly appreciated. We also have a Thunderclap campaign going if you'd like to help that way as well.
Finally, to all our Patrons: Thank you so much for your patience and support! We'll try to do something special just for you to make up for the lack of content this month. You're all so amazing!
Have a wonderful week!

Let's do this!
