I really enjoy this comic and it's artwork, no matter who's drawing it. So I really hope that Ira can handle the pressure of people comparing her to Katie all the time. Good work! Posted on February 3rd, 2013 at 12:48PM Reply

Whew! I am so glad that this new artist is illustrating. She (He? Sorry, I've met guys named Ira and their character profile looks fairly androgynous) has an art style reminiscent of Katie's yet unique in it's own right. It definitely looks a lot more familiar that's for certain, I can actually tell whom is whom too. I mean no disrespect towards Jared but this this artist seems to be far more qualified to continue Aikonia. Posted on February 3rd, 2013 at 04:53PM Reply

Ah, the hiatus is over - that's what's most important to me.

As for Ira's art, wow. Ira took Jared's pages and managed to give them a greater sense of liveliness - it looks exquisite, and it was worth the interminable wait of over a month. I can't wait to see some fully original pages in the coming weeks - time to complete this comic's rebirth! Posted on February 4th, 2013 at 12:33AM Reply

I definitely like the new art style. Hell, I like art at all.

I only have one consideration, which would be super easy to fix anyway.
Maybe it's how you wanted the scene portrayed, but the "camera" seems set to extreme-closeup mode and I have to fight to see what's actually going on around the speech bubbles.

When I look back at Katie's art and try to pick out what makes me like it a bit better, I find that the character's don't dominate the panel quite so much so you get to see a bit of the setting behind it. It gives you a feel for the atmosphere and makes you feel a bit more involved in the universe. So that. easy to fix.

Also, I remember when this comic started and people were complaining that Katie's style was far too cartoony and silly to make a serious story like this have any weight at all and it was going to be a disaster.

Then we just spent the last few weeks defending her voraciously.
Irony. It's a thing. Posted on February 4th, 2013 at 08:38AM Reply

This art style feels much more fluid and clear than the last, and overall just works much better with the quick passed action of the comic.

I still feel bad for the last artist, since it seemed that certain readers were just so quick to knock him down. I wish him all the best in his endeavors and finding a comic that works for him. And I would also like to say cheers to the new artist; here is to many more terrific years of Aikonia. :) Posted on February 4th, 2013 at 12:43PM Reply

Loving the new art style. It manages to put its own spin on things, while keeping enough little similarities (the guard uniforms, the way distant people and buildings are drawn, etc) to make it a much smoother transition from Katie's style. Very nice! Posted on February 4th, 2013 at 06:35PM Reply

Indeed, it for the most part keeps a little more consistent with the previous character designs. With Jared's redesign, the guards uniform was bit too different to recognize the. Posted on February 5th, 2013 at 08:12AM

Ira's style isn't as unique or ...(trying to find the right word) striking as Katie's but (s)he seems to be a very good artist. I still think the horizon and the scenery is bland and unrecognizable but Ira seems to know what (s)he's doing. Posted on February 5th, 2013 at 07:00PM Reply

I think the Hiatus was worth it, the new pages look much more polished and good. I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue reading when the switch was first made, because I'm very picky about style, but now I can safely say I want to continue. Well done! Posted on February 6th, 2013 at 04:39AM Reply

Do you think the new artist could create a reference page for the main cast of characters? Just so that we'd know what they will look like in the new style? Posted on February 8th, 2013 at 11:54AM Reply
