Hello everyone!

Sorry for posting the post late this week. We ran into some issues that delayed us, but all is fine now!

In case you haven't noticed, we added a small tooltip above the skyscraper ad to encourage our awesome readers to support us by disabling Adblock and, in just three days, you've already made a huge difference! We'll be posting an article on our blog later this week (probably on Wednesday) that goes into detail and explains how our ads work and what difference you are really making.

Also! Remember that Kickstarter campaign we ran, like, almost three years ago? Yeah. We put together a video of the bloopers that occurred while recording that pitch video and it should be up on our Youtube channel later today!

Until then, enjoy today's page and have a wonderful week!

Hey Aikonians!

Just wanted to share the project I worked on last month for my 1-Game-a-Month Project. It's a Complete Tutorial on making a game in HaxeFlixel. You can click here to read it!

It's meant to show anyone how to get started with the HaxeFlixel framework and make a simple, but complete, cross-platform game using it. So if you're looking to get into game development, or looking for something new to make games in, check out my tutorial and see how it feels!

Also, TONIGHT, for people in and around St Louis, Missouri, I'll be giving a talk (along with my friends from Butterscoth Shenanigans) about Makin' Games Quickly! I'll be talking about my 1-Game-a-Month Project, and some of the things I've learned from it. If you can make it out, come by and say 'hello', it should be a lot of fun! Details can be found here.

And, this coming Friday, I'll be at the Saint Louis Science Center again for their First Friday event - showing off and talking about games. Come by and play some of my games! More details here.

Until next time!

Noooo, Malleck! *sigh* This is gonna be a loooong waiting till next monday. I sure hope Malleck's gonna be fine and rejoins the group later in some awesomely epic manner! :)

I like how Malleck feigns that grin of his this time, btw. Nice detail, whether indended or not :) Posted on June 2nd, 2014 at 03:30PM Reply

Haha, thanks! I was indeed going for that -- I love working with Malleck, but he can also be challenging since the only facial expressions I can actually *show* are basically various flavours of grin (or anything where he flashes his teeth). It makes me think about body language a lot, too. He's super fun =) Posted on June 2nd, 2014 at 10:49PM

Uh-huh, and you're doing pretty good job with that. I didn't really have troubles reading Malleck's "expressions" so far (as far as I can remember) ;) Posted on June 3rd, 2014 at 01:13AM

I'm rather fond of the transition in panels 3 and 4...as he looks over towards his new comrades. Just that subtle shift in the angle of his head and his hood displays a grim and noble determination. Posted on June 5th, 2014 at 08:37AM

I like that two-panels detail as well :)
Though it looks to me more like " *sigh* you gotta do what you gotta do", rather than a noble determination :) Posted on June 5th, 2014 at 12:01PM

Does the tooltip have any problems with the ToS of the ad service you are using?
I know that some services (eg google I think) forbid doing things like that,

But if you have checked and theres no conflict with the ToS or anything, good on you, and best of luck! Posted on June 4th, 2014 at 09:12PM Reply

The tool tip is simply informational. We are not forcing our readers to click, nor are we restricting the site's content and asking readers to click the ads to unlock said content. Having the tool tip is no different than writing a blog post explaining how much revenue we make from the ads ;)

Thank you for your concern though! Posted on June 5th, 2014 at 05:51PM
