Hello everyone,
My deepest apologies for the lack of a page for these past two weeks. I've been in and out of hospital recently, first for physical health reasons as I was dealing with severe migraines, and secondly for mental illness reasons as my depression decided to rise from the depths to eat me alive once again. I have my good days, but my bad ones are severe and have me crippled until they eventually pass. I am currently in treatment for my anxiety and depression, but I try to understand that being so isn't any guarantee against episodes. They still occur despite my medication and therapy, and when they do it's really, really bad.
I'm very disappointed in myself for not being able to keep to schedule and failing to deliver exclusive content to you all, or any content at all, really. I'm working at getting myself better with the little energy I have at my disposal, but it's a process and getting mad at myself for failing at my responsibilities isn't going to be constructive at all in the long-run. Again, I'm very sorry for the inconvenience and any frustration my illness may be causing.

I am confused by his choice to wait until the fire dies. Reading without a light source is not very effective. Posted on January 25th, 2016 at 03:08PM ReplyAlbin replied:
Although, less people can see him reading the book. Posted on January 25th, 2016 at 04:31PMLou replied:
actually I think he dimmed the fire himself. kicked it over so it wouldn't burn so long.but ye, I don't get it either. maybe fire interferes with the magic? idk Posted on January 27th, 2016 at 09:31AM

I have no idea whether to be afraid of this pirate so far or love him. His motives...are just downright...bizarre, tbh. Sure, I can understand how he behaves post-magicka portal being opened, he's a greedy pirate who is following his dreams (sans any care for the people he steps on), and I get that...but then he opens up the portal...AND BWAMMO, REVERSAL ON THE ATTITUDE!!!Personally, I'm hoping for some sort of return of the demon from the first half of the chapters. I mean I know he's old news (figuratively and physically) but some form of villain along the same lines would be kinda cool. Arriving in a time where people wouldn't have proper defense against them, huh... Posted on January 26th, 2016 at 01:59AM Reply

Alternatively, he's spellbound by the lure of magic and has been searching it out for a long time. It is quite likely that piracy is an excellent way to obtain artifacts holding potential clues, such as that book he carries. Perhaps young Katherine would do well to learn from his example... My understanding of it was that he had been chasing magic his entire life. He caught wind of the existence of the college, and came across/hunted down Kats party, who were looking for it as well. He fought them so he could get access to it, during which time, they stumbled across the magical ruins, a little hell/magicka broke loose, they teamed up to get out whilst they could, and on the way out, our pirate captain friend snagged some treasure enough to satiate his desires. He doesnt need to kill or fight anyone to get to it anymore, and has lost his crew, so, at least for the meanwhile, will make do with what he has, Kats group, whilst hiding from them the fact that he was able to smuggle stuff out from the ruins, whereas the others didnt have the opporunity. That's a hell of a lot of trust to give to someone who has repeatedly tried to kill you. Posted on January 26th, 2016 at 02:49AM ReplyIsaac93002 said:

They give up their trust on a guy that wanted them dead for like half of the story? He has been with them only a few days and they already let him to walk freely near them when they are sleeping.10/10 logic

I must say I agree with the "Troll". In Chapter 6, Page 15, http://aikoniacomic.com/page/298 , the pirate just promises to be faithful. That's it. I wouldn't then immediately allow him to "be on first watch" while everyone else is sleeping, I'd wait a while for him to prove it. Just because you don't say something in a nice way doesn't mean it isn't true. Has this person actually been insulting pages on almost every single page? But, as an actual reply, I don't think this occurrence matters at all to the story, especially since you were marked as a troll because of it. You're just barking up the wrong tree. Posted on July 13th, 2016 at 12:20PM

The book says "Channelling," and I wonder... if he has the appropriate magical talent to get anything out of the book, will one of the others turn out to be a caster to cast what he channels, or do we think he's a rare binder?Either way, I think someone's going to wreak havoc with the Veil before this is over... Where is your team to back you up through this. Depression can be a vicious cycle of getting deppressed, not meeting deadlines, getting depressed, etc. I'd think one of them will step up in a bit. Glad you are getting help to fix it rather than dealing with it silently. Posted on February 9th, 2016 at 11:17AM ReplyMisanthropy said:
@Karina: Don't worry about us! I'm looking forward to the next bit of comic - I don't mind whether it's days, weeks, or months away, waiting isn't going to do me any harm. I'm sure I speak for pretty much everyone when I say that health always trumps work! Posted on February 10th, 2016 at 12:54PM ReplyDave said:
Listen! Your comic is good, very good. So good in fact that I am pretty sure no one will mind waiting until you are well enough to continue. So stop being sorry that we have to wait. You have given us enough pleasure to outweigh any waiting we have to do! Thankyou for entertaining us so well so far! Posted on February 11th, 2016 at 02:13PM ReplyC said:

Depression is a seriously rough ride. Hang in there! Your work is worth waiting for, and you are worth the time and effort it takes to take care of yourself. Don't worry about us. We'll still be here. Just take your time and focus on getting well again. Posted on February 15th, 2016 at 03:38PM ReplyLyrisath replied:
