Chapter VI, Page 35
Where Is Yegir?
Keeping You In The Loop
By Andrew-david

So, as Karina stated in her previous blurb entry, she can't really work on any new pages due to her current life situation. We're very understanding of that and did not want to add more pressure on top of what she is currently going through.
I've noticed, however, that some of our readers do not feel the same way as we do towards this. Aikonia is supposed to be a fun project, to tell a story that we want to tell, and if some of you are going to turn it into a burden by bashing us and writing negative comments and not appreciating the fact that we're already doing our best, then please, simply stop coming to this website.
Karina is already going through a lot and some of you's attitude is definitely not helping her get through it.
To those of you who have been requesting I keep you all updated and in the loop, here's what I have to say: "Karina is dealing with a lot, there is literally nothing I can do until she can work on new pages."
What else is there to communicate? Do I have to write a new blurb entry with this sentence every single day? I assumed that this was implied and that not having to repeat the same statement on a weekly basis wouldn't count as "lack of communication". There is no point in writing more blurb entries stating the exact same fact over and over, so if you'd like an update when there is nothing new to update you on, then please, just read the quoted statement again as if I had just posted it.
To everyone else: thank you for your patience and support. We're really hoping to have Aikonia back up and running soon.
Update

(This was posted in the comment section, but it seemed more appropriate to post it as a blurb entry)
Hello, everyone! Artist/colorist here to give you all a bit of an update as to what the status is on the comic at this time. But first of all, for those that continue to offer us their support and readership despite the gaps in updates, I want to sincerely thank you for doing so.
Besides working on Aikonia, I also work as Lead Illustrator and Artist for Madsoft Games, which means that my attention is divided across a number of ongoing projects that I\'m involved with. Two of these had been recently featured at GDX this year: Bound Against Time and VRNinja -- you can read about these projects in the post-GDX summary on the Madsoft Games blog. Creating assets for both games was where the majority of my time was spent for about 3 weeks, which meant that the Aikonia comic had to take the sidelining seat during this time.
In addition to this, any dear readers who have read the blurbs of previous pages should be familiar with certain personal problems that I was working hard towards fixing, and had actually managed to sort through enough to return to illustrating pages for a short time. I was living in an exceedingly toxic and hostile environment where emotional meltdowns were a regular and repeated occurrence, which worsened my depression and interfered with my ability to take care of myself and concentrate/work on anything, really. The key word here is \'was\', since I am now currently free from my soul-crushing prison and living with some close friends that only want the very best for me. Of course, there was some violent fallout from when I initially broke the news of my intention to move, which resulted in my parent disowning me before they eventually decided to grudgingly accept my decision to leave, not without continued passive-aggressive behavior on their part. In addition to this, I also had to scramble to pack my belongings while this parent was at work to ensure my emotional safety/stability, returning to another friend\'s house to sleep on their couch each night during the whole process. It was an exhausting, exciting, nerve-wracking, and heavily emotional time for me.
Long story short: I needed to move to a new apartment with friends, and haven\'t been able to commit to working on the comic until settling in to my new and exceedingly more healthy/safe surroundings. I haven\'t been able to update anyone of my situation online until the stress/chaos of the whole thing subsided enough for me to organize my thoughts clearly, and I\'m sorry to see that many of you seem very upset. :(
Your continued support is invaluable to the Aikonia team. We haven\'t given up on this comic, it\'s simply a matter of survival/health taking priority over the creation of content, recently. I ask for your understanding and compassion, friends, we are only human.
For those of you that are and continue to be Patrons, I\'m going to be working on sketching the remaining pages for the entirety of this chapter to be posted exclusively to the Patreon for your viewing pleasure. Of course, the finished pages will eventually make it here as well, but at this time we want to reward our supporters on Patreon for the resilience and patience. :)
New Site Features!
By Andrew-david
May 30th, 2016 at 01:03PM
Hey everyone!
We're finally back to our regular posting schedule! And I've also updated the website with a few new features:
- Transcripts: You can now click on the little transcript icon in the top right corner of every page to see a dialogue transcript for the page! We've been getting requests to add this feature for a while and I'm happy to finally have it!
- Archive Searching: The addition of transcripts made pages searchable! You can now visit the archives and write a word or phrase in the search field to get a list of all the pages that include said word or phrase. It's a very basic search system for now, but we plan on improving it in the future.
- Blurbs Section: You can now see all the blurb entries in one place, just like a real blog! We still want to add a lot of features to that section, but for now, you can see up to 20 entries per page and they can be filtered by team member.
Thank you for your suggestions! Feel free to leave any other suggestions, ideas, feedback, or questions in the comments!

Come on, guys. This is ridiculous. If you're not going to post, you need to communicate with your fanbase. You're not under obligation to post comic pages if you're running a free comic, but when you are running a patreon for that comic and asking us to pay you money to not update the comic, nor even post a status about delays in those updates, it is just disrespectful to us, your fans. I'm pretty sure anyone could get their Patreon taken down, given that they are doing nothing and taking all the money, not to mention the blatant lie of "we're back to our regular schedule." Posted on June 20th, 2016 at 08:03AMMoose replied:
I didn't see anything in my quick gleaming of Patreon's terms of service that stated specifically a Patreon could be punished for not meeting its obligations. And I mean, if people want to continue donating, then all the power to them. This is a good comic and I've been following it since the very beginning. But I morally take issue with accepting patreons and not delivering even a quick update saying "Hi guys, page is delayed this week/until x date due to x circumstances, hang tight" etc. Posted on June 21st, 2016 at 03:12AMKC said:

I wish you all the strength I can muster and I am really glad that you're still doing okay. Thank you so much to continue the comic despite your afflictions. It means a lot to us fans. Good luck in getting through this!Don't feel the need to push yourself for our sake, just try to take things at your own pace and make sure you're happy. I fully intend to keep supporting you, particularly in times like this where you probably need it most (and what with being a terrible judge of tone, verbal support would likely be a flop), and I'm sure my fellow backers would agree that we support you because we simply like the work you do, and not because we want something in return, so again, don't push yourself too hard for our sake. Your health and happiness is the most important to us. Posted on June 27th, 2016 at 06:10AM

No new pages. I also just stopped my Pateron when I seen comments appear then get deleted off this post. I wish the artist the best of luck but I'm afraid the company she works for has terrible communication skills. Posted on July 27th, 2016 at 09:45AMMoose replied:
Agreed. I have no problem with a two month hiatus (one comic I follow has been on hiatus since October) but there's no communication. I completely sympathize with the artist's issues. I just don't think it's unreasonable to expect the other people working on this comic to keep us updated. Posted on August 1st, 2016 at 03:09AMAndrew-David replied:
I mean, what else is there to say? I can only say "We can't post new pages because Karina can't work on new pages" so many times. I've been trying to post Archive Finds posts on Patreon, but that's about as much as we can do until Karina is back on her feet.I understand that you're all upset and want someone to blame, but honestly? The blunt truth is simply: "We can not post new pages until Karina can create new pages." Until something changes, repeating the same statement over and over wouldn't really count as "keeping you updated." Posted on August 1st, 2016 at 03:45PM

Two long months have passed, and the heroes awaken. But is it a dream? Time is moving so slowly, and Yegir is nowhere to be found. What if Magicka is seeping through and putting them under a spell? Yegir's kind is immune to much magic, so he isn't in this dreamland. Is there an evil Wizard around? Or a good Wizard? Has he captured them? Is the pirate a wizard who is just rusty with magic? What are his intentions? Is he really friendly with the heroes?
If you guys decide to continue, you should make this gap into a story.
I've spent way too much time on this site. If there is no end, I think the writers should come out and say: "We are discontinuing this comic" or something. Posted on July 30th, 2016 at 12:18PM Reply

Them making this gap into a story is just wishful thinking, although I must say I do like your impromptu story quite a lot.
I wish they'd bring back the Journal Entries, it was something nice that kept us occupied and required minimal art, AND it padded the gaps between the story. Posted on July 31st, 2016 at 08:34PM

Unfortunately, we can not post new pages until Karina is back on her feet. There is really nothing else to say at all. As much as I'd love to spew out more excuses and reasons and stuff to keep you updated, literally all I can say is "Karina can't create pages and therefore I can not post them."I can write a whole new blurb entry stating that again if that will count as me keeping everyone updated and in the loop, but I assumed the one Karina wrote would be clear enough. Hey, Andrew, as a thought, while we all wait on new pages, could you maybe do a weekly fan comic thing where we submit fan art or comics to the page and those are all posted insteaded? It's just a suggestion, but that way there's some activity going on for your Patreon. I know there's nothing new for you to post, but sometimes we are afraid that the comic is being forgotten without any comments letting us know you guys are still here. We just want to make sure you're all okay, maybe some side fan fun will help? Posted on August 1st, 2016 at 08:55PM ReplyAndrew-David replied:
That's a great suggestion! We've featured guest pages in the past, but I usually give those guests at least one month's notice and it's usually in between chapters. While we do feature submitted fan art right here, we've never really featured any on the homepage. If there are some fans that would like to send us their artwork, I would gladly showcase it here and on Patreon (with links to your website, deviantart, or anywhere else you feel like linking to). I understand your frustration Andrew, but in the past few years the majority of your communication comes across short tempered and hostile. You can't simply blame it on "trolls" every time someone posts a comment that isn't praise.Karina's post was good but misleading on timeframes. It talked about Aikonia being sidelined for 3 weeks - in the past - which coincidentally you never felt like mentioning to us but somehow expected us to guess. It talked about past living conditions that appeared to be remedied. She's moved out, shes dealing with repercussions, and a vague reference to "settling in to new surroundings" was made. Don't blame readers for being trolls for asking for clarification or making comments 60 days later asking for an update. It comes across extremely entitled and petty when you attack someone on here for not understanding or mind-reading.
If you can't handle 30 genuinely curious fans and one troll, I have no idea how you will handle any communication if any of your other software actually makes a hit. Take a look at other companies and how they deal with communication. I honestly don't want you to fail, but if the attitude you present on here is the same as you present in other aspects of your company, you will. Posted on August 3rd, 2016 at 10:27AM Reply
Andrew-David replied:
Note: The "Troll" tag is only associated to two specific IP addresses/email addresses. I'm not manually tagging people as trolls. I noticed a while ago that all the negative comments that were being posted on every single page (usually along the lines of "This comic sucks ever since Katie left" or that reply to Karina's post by "Questionable") were all coming from the same two IP addresses or had one of two email addresses associated to them. So I built a check in our comment system that automatically tags people commenting from those IP addresses/email addresses as trolls.Aikonia is a personal project. It has been for a while now. So I don't handle it the same way I would handle projects coming from my company.
And I'm sorry that I appeared entitled or aggressive. It's just that I'm really tired of checking the comment section every day and seeing people complain or be upset about something that I, not only have no control over, but is also just a personal project that we are supposed to be doing for fun. You're turning it into a burden and that's not what I want out of this project. Karina is going through a lot right now and when I see people attack us, and her, I feel obligated to retaliate. I would much rather lose those readers than sit here idly and let people bully a friend who is already down on her luck.
For the moment, there is literally nothing I can do other than wait just like the rest of you. I posted an official update yesterday and if you don't think that's enough, then I'm sorry but, like, there's really nothing else I can do, so getting upset or complaining isn't going to magically fix everything.
I'm closing the comment section for this page. I'm sorry. If anyone would like to send fan art for us to share on the homepage, feel free to send it to hello@aikoniacomic.com Posted on August 3rd, 2016 at 12:40PM
