Hey everyone!
We surpassed another milestone on KICKSTARTER this week, but we've been surpassing milestones so fast lately that we're actually out of pages to release! D:
We're working on getting some more pages done though and we'll have an extra page up by Wednesday at the latest.
Thank you all so much for the support so far!

From the Kickstarter page:

"We weren't expecting to hit another milestone until at least next week! Unfortunately, it's really difficult for us to keep up with those and right now we're out of pages to release. We have one page, but if we release that one now, we won't have any page to release at midnight (the usual Monday page release).

We'll release the milestone page on Wednesday, since Katie is at the NYCC for the weekend and we probably won't really have a page ready by Tuesday. Sorry :( " Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 02:34AM

Obvious by the two and three pages ago and Arwel not being too thrilled with being interrupted from his work, he is not his usual self. Yet he recognizes his friends as well as their names. So he couldn't be taken over by another being, like Ariel has, as her possessor does not share the memories of her host ( as evident by her not recognizing the people from her dreams of the past).

You can also see many more people a few pages ago than the <8 talked about by Enceladus. By why and how does Ariel have so many under her thumb without everyone else in the school noticing? Is it some sort of Mind Enslavement? Indoctrination? Hypnosis?

Ariel is said to be doing what she is doing all of this to "gain power" though. Is she creating a cult of lifeforms to harvest? Lifestealing has been mentioned, but only in the context of "Corporeal Energy Sources and Their Usage In Arcana". That could be taken to mean not just drawing power from stealing life energy. It could be the indoctrination/mind slave aspect of it too. She could be using this magic to gain an army of magical student slaves to strike at Solaris, maybe to grab that shiny door of his and use it for evil(er) purposes.

Maybe the students that went missing weren't harvested in some way for her to gain power and instead are the few that resisted the mind enslavement and were silenced.

Or I have drank a few too many while being in a ranting, speculating mood. Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 02:57AM Reply

Yeah, maybe just a couple too few...

My bet is that they're just fuel for the fire. I did mention a few pages back, and think it might be worth noting again, that Ariel seems to have recruited far more Channelers than Casters. I really think that ties in somehow. Maybe she's just using the channelers to funnel her magic-food from the other realm. Yum, pure arcane energy!

Then again, it could be coincidence.

Which leads to my question... which would be better hosts for the magical demons? Casters or Channelers? I know Binders would be ideal, but most of those kids aren't that proficient yet, so... Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 05:05AM

Woah, woah, hold on. Where is his red trim thingy? I was under the impression that he HAD to wear that red trim thingy. Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 03:26AM Reply

It looks like he has his hood up on his outer cloak, but not on his school robes. Odd. Maybe it's how the brainwashed people know each other?
"Hey, you have a brown hood instead of a black-and-color-trim one! We're brainwash-bro's!!" Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 05:02AM

Shadowdragoonftw is right. in the first few pages of the comic, whats his name is wearing a brown traveling cloak that doesn't have a color strip. Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 08:02AM

Yeah, not sure if you noticed the "breath vapor" (actually not sure what this is called) coming out from their mouths on this page. This means it's cold, and when it's cold, they wear a brown overcoat-type robe on top of their usual robes. Cyril had the same one and you couldn't really see the robe he had underneath when he had it on unless he had the brown robe's hood down. Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 10:07AM

Is it just me, or does Arwel have two different reactions to his friends? Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 12:37PM Reply

They were talking about him not being happy about the two of them being together. Methinks there's some unrequited feelings there. Posted on October 17th, 2011 at 01:24PM

Is it just me, or did Arwell's hair change color? I have to go back a few pages to check.
Also, if channelers are required to funnel magical energy to casters, how come the caster in the first ~10 pages (I forget his name. The one dude that went to jail for discovering the tearing of the veil) get his energy if he was the only one there, unless he was a binder, which is unlikely? Cyril is a binder. So there's that.

You can pretty much gather what type of mage the characters are by the colours of their robes. Red for channelling, blue for casting and green for binders. And we are all familiar with the purple with gold trims of the council. Posted on October 19th, 2011 at 01:52AM

The mage at the beginning of the comic is one of the main characters. His name is Cyril and he's a binder. Go to the "cast" page to read more about each character. Posted on October 19th, 2011 at 10:07AM
