Does anyone know if there are additional archmages on the council we haven't met yet? With Syd gone, Solaris now (temporarily?) gone, and Ariel being...not herself lately they seem to be dropping like flies.

So no time progression has happened... there goes my theory.
But that does mean that Solaris was the one ignoring the King... Perhaps his ambitions were to seize power from the monarchy.
Either way, I can only see this ending badly for knights/bardan and magi alike. Posted on February 13th, 2012 at 01:05AM

Alexisonfire replied:
Oh. My. God. Its foreshadowing! Demons are secretly magnetic! Remember when Ariel started walking up the pilar after Syd's funeral? Freaking magnets.
Demons are going to spew forth from the portal and be immediately grabbed by the gigantic magnetic rock when they leave the school's perimeters.
Freaking miracles. Posted on February 15th, 2012 at 12:07AM

In panel 5, what's with the robes of the people in the background? Mainly, why is the middle one red? We've met people with blue robes (Councillors, of course) but nobody with entirely red robes. My guess is that it's to show whether each person is a caster or a channeller, but they're all one color because nobody would be able to see a single colored stripe (or maybe 2 or 3, I don't know) from that distance, so they'd be indistinguishable. I'd guess that they were drawn like this so the reader could tell them apart. Posted on February 13th, 2012 at 05:07AM

It could be that it's just a cloak, like what Arwel wears when he's snoopin around during that one part, but, yah, given the track record, I couldn't bet on it.
...honeymancy... Posted on February 14th, 2012 at 12:58AM
Andrew-David replied:
Huh? Councillors have purple robes, not blue.
Casters are blue and channelers are red.
And yes, their entire robes are one colour so you could tell them apart from that distance. Otherwise they would just be all grey and you wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Posted on February 14th, 2012 at 12:35PM
Pi guy replied:
So, is it just student robes that are grey, or does everyone get a set of grey robes and a set of colored ones? Posted on February 16th, 2012 at 05:10AM

Aaaand we're back with some familiar faces! Good. I was slightly concerned the mages would only be used for backstory and then we'd never see them again, which would be sad.
Now to wait until the cool bardan lady and the mages meet up... Posted on February 13th, 2012 at 02:50PM

He's not bald, or at least, he's not supposed to be.
I guess some hair is supposed to be visible from the angle in the last panel. We'll fix that :P Posted on February 14th, 2012 at 12:39PM

First, yes to honeymancy.
Second, I bet it's definitely worth it NOT to be worth the time of an eerie Magicka-monster skinwalker like Ariel has become. Whatever the reason, her inattention to loose ends cannot bode well for her opposition, that is, she's probably in the opinion that nothing can stop her now no matter who Gwynne tells. Oh noes!
